Blue and Gold Banquet
Are you ready to have a good time and celebrate with the pack! The Blue and Gold Banquet is scheduled for Sunday February 28th. It will be held in the old gym at St. John's at 12:30 PM following the Scout Sunday Mass. There will be fine food, plenty of fun and entertainment, as well as awards and rank advancements. Bring the whole family and enjoy some time to celebrate the accomplishments over the past year.
This month we are celebrating the 103rd birthday of Scouting worldwide, the 100th birthday of Scouting in the United States and the 23rd birthday of Cub Scouting at St. John’s. Scouting began in England in 1907. Lord Baden-Powell, our founder, took a small group of boys to Brownsea Island off the coast of England for 12 days of adventure in camping and pioneering. He was testing an idea for an organization for boys.
Baden-Powell based his idea for Scouting on some principles, which he had been taught as a boy…...things like trust and loyalty, helpfulness and courtesy, cheerfulness. February 8, 1910 is considered the birthday of Scouting in the United States.
