Pinewood Derby Workshops

Our Pinewood Derby is coming up February 7th, so it's time to get working on those cars!
Dates have been set for Pinewood Derby workshops at Air Traffic in the Burnsville Mall. All the details are available on the Air Traffic web site (http://www.airtrafficonline.com/store/pc/home.asp)  You do have to pre-register, which can be done on-line. There is a fee for the workshops, but there is a scholarship program, which is easy to apply for, if the fee is a problem.
The Pack 338 Pinewood Derby rules and a flyer with more information were passed out along with the cars, and have also been posted in the downloads page.

Wreath Sales Recap

The accountants have finished all their number crunching for the wreath sales fundraiser. Here are the final results:

 Wreath Revenue  $26,863.00
 Cost of wreaths
 -$16,268.20
 Expenses related to distribution/other  -$99.50
 Prizes awarded for wreath sales
 -$1192.00
Scout Credits awarded for wreath sales
 -$2385.00
 Total Net Profit  6918.30

We currently have 67 scouts in our pack, so that works out to approximately $103/scout.
This profit goes towards funding all or our Pack expenses for 2009-2010 scout year, including:
  • Recharter fees (covers subscriptions to 2 magazines for all scouts)
  • Books, Neckerchiefs
  • Awards, badges, pins, trophies
  • Pinewood derby
  • Rocket Launch
  • Blue & Gold (majority of the meal and entertainment)
  • Pack picnic
  • Flowers for adopt a park Savage
  • Leader Training
  • Pack meeting supplies
  • Religious awards/books
  • Scout Class B t-shirts
  • Website
  • Storage Unit
So celebrate your scouts achievements in this year's wreath sales! But also keep in mind that although our total revenue from wreath sales was higher than last year, we also have more scouts than we did last year, and therefore more expenses for the year. We need to keep an eye on expenses to keep our pack strong.

We also have 1 NSF check that has not yet been claimed.  Perhaps the person works with the scout family and they aren’t recognizing the address in apple valley , but if everyone could take another look.  This person likely purchased more than 1 item as the check was for $45.  There is a $4 bank service charge we have been assessed as well.
